About the Thumb Arts Guild
The Thumb Arts Guild is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, established in June of 2001. Our members include artists and supporters of the arts throughout Huron County, Michigan. We pride ourselves in being able to sponsor and support opportunities to showcase the creativity that abounds in the upper thumb area.
Our success as an organization is evidenced by our growth from twenty-four original members to our current membership of over eighty! The mission of the Thumb Arts Guild is "the enrichment of life through active promotion and encouragement of art making and the appreciation of all phases of the arts."
Our mission further states, "as Guild members who believe the arts to be essential to a complete life, we will work to incorporate the arts into the public experience and develop artistic self-realization through opportunities for growth."
Art in the Park is held each year on Labor Day Weekend in Port Austin. Along with the original artwork for sale, there is free music and our popular 'kids art' tent. Food and even puppet shows round out a fun-filled event!
TAG has taken on many projects in the community, supporting other events and businesses, as well as adding a little color to the scenery, like our winter snowmen!
